So this morning, while engaging in my normal bathroom rituals as I do every morning, I became fixated with all the writing on my shampoo bottle and the instruction information it contained; it read: LATHER. RINSE. REPEAT. I thought how obvious the instructions were, yet I do not know the last time, if ever, that I really focused in on these steps when it came to shampooing my hair. And yet, for the most part, we all know how to do this very task (excluding young kids who are still learning the art of shampoo Mohawks in the tub)...
It got me thinking about day-to-day life and general business processes (being entrepreneurial and all causes one to focus on business matters perhaps more often than most) and how I wish everything was as same simple as a "Lather, Rinse, Repeat" methodology and then I thought about it probably could, it's just whether or not we focus our attention and awareness to it. My husband reminded me of the United States Marine Corp. Mantra of Improvise, Adapt and Overcome and then I began this thought process of discovery of how most things around me contain some sort of Lather, Rinse Repeat methodology of moving forward.
What I found most fascinating in all this, is how these processes surround us all throughout the day in varying ways, but most of us find it difficult to master.
For my business, I find the following Best Practice Mantra beneficial in attempting to move forward methodically and with laser-focus.
ADAPT. ENGAGE. PERFORM. REPEAT.
What Best Practice Mantras help you progress in your day-to-day business and what areas are the hardest to gauge?
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this!
